The first leg of Ongame Network’s GSOP Live tour has come to an end, and the Riga event is confirmed to be an outright success. A total of 283 players entered the tournament, making it the biggest international tournament Riga has seen in terms of the player count.
The final table ended in a heads-up battle between Denmark’s Morten Mortensen (Scandic Bookmakers) and Sweden’s Martin Emanuelsson (Betsson), where Emanuelsson knocked out Mortensen, emerging as the first ever GSOP Live winner.
As the very first winner of GSOP Live, Martin Emanuelsson won over €63.000 and a seat at the GSOP Live Grand Finale in Seville.
“The fact that both the winner and the runner up qualified through online finals, once again proves that we have found the sweet spot for recreational players with the GSOP Live format,” says Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network. “The online finals for Malta have come off to a great start, and we are expecting the tour to grow even bigger over the coming events.”
Tournament Director Niclas Gustafsson was also very happy with the first event, citing excellent staff and great atmosphere, and saw a good chance for the tournament to progress even further:
“I think we’re going to see more and more players once the word gets out there about how good the players feel, how nice it was to meet other players and also the representatives from the operators you play with. The tournament will grow bigger and better with every event.”
GSOP Live online finals are running. Next stop: Malta 24-28 November. For more information, see www.gsoplive.com.
